The implementation of OLYMPUS structural strengthening systems has become a standard in the modern restoration of public and historic buildings in Croatia. These materials, based on advanced composites and mineral mortars, make it possible to achieve high seismic resistance without compromising the original architectural identity, which is essential for buildings under strict heritage protection.

In Zagreb, at 20 Ulica Republike Austrije, the headquarters of the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets (the former Rudolf Barracks) is undergoing one of the most demanding structural restoration projects. The application of OLYMPUS FRCM systems, which combine carbon fiber meshes with ecological lime-based plasters, ensures the stability of massive masonry walls. Such solutions allow the building to “breathe” and retain vapor permeability, while at the same time drastically increasing its ductility and safety for users.

A similar implementation was also carried out in Bjelovar on the Vodotehna building, which was transformed into the modern digital center Hub-In. It is a representative building in the style of late historicism, with preserved Baroque elements in the interior (such as the vaulted structures on the ground floor). Here, OLYMPUS solutions were crucial in the repair of deteriorated load-bearing elements.
Thanks to their minimal application thickness, these systems did not reduce valuable interior space, thereby allowing the seamless installation of modern IT infrastructure within the building’s historic volume. The result is a building that retains its charm on the outside while offering the highest level of safety on the inside.

A special challenge was presented by the State Archives in Osijek, located in the Baroque Fortress. Due to its specific function and the enormous loads carried by the archive shelving, the structure required strengthening that would not impose additional weight on the building. By using the OLYMPUS FRCM GLASS system, the critical vaults and arches of the Osijek archives were permanently secured. These materials act as an invisible exoskeleton that protects the historical records of Slavonia, transforming vulnerable heritage into a lasting and safe home for the region’s collective memory.
